👨‍💼【Teacher / Strategy Professor】:
Thank you for joining today's session. We need to discuss how to build a KPI dashboard for the case company. Could you explain your approach to organizing financial and strategic KPIs?
🧑‍🎓【Student / MBA Student】:
I suggest we organize the dashboard into two sections. First, financial KPIs including revenue, profit, and ROIC should be placed at the top. Second, strategic KPIs such as market share and customer satisfaction should follow below. This structure helps executives see the financial results first, then understand the drivers behind them.

👨‍💼【Teacher / Strategy Professor】:
That makes sense. However, I'm concerned about the connection between these two types of KPIs. How do you plan to show the relationship between strategic actions and financial outcomes?
🧑‍🎓【Student / MBA Student】:
We can use color coding and arrows to show the links. For example, if customer satisfaction increases by 5 percent, we can highlight how it leads to revenue growth of 3 percent. We should also include a timeline view to track changes over 12 months. This approach helps users understand cause and effect clearly.

👨‍💼【Teacher / Strategy Professor】:
Good point about the timeline. But what about the risk of information overload? Executives have limited time to review dashboards. How do you keep it simple while including all necessary metrics?
🧑‍🎓【Student / MBA Student】:
We should focus on 8 to 10 key metrics maximum. I recommend using a drill-down feature where users can click to see detailed data only when needed. The main view should show only the most important numbers with clear trend indicators. We can also provide a one-page summary report that executives can review in 3 minutes.

👨‍💼【Teacher / Strategy Professor】:
Excellent. One final question. How do you handle situations where strategic KPIs improve but financial KPIs decline? This can happen during investment periods.
🧑‍🎓【Student / MBA Student】:
That's an important consideration. We should add a commentary section where management can explain the context. For example, if ROIC decreases by 2 percent while market share increases by 4 percent, we need to clarify that this is part of a planned investment strategy. We can also include a forecast section showing expected financial recovery in the next 6 to 12 months.

👨‍💼【Teacher / Strategy Professor】:
Very thorough analysis. Your framework balances clarity with depth, and the commentary feature addresses the timing issue well. This approach should work effectively for the case company. Let's move forward with this design.
